TableScroll
Lets a wide table scroll inside the reading column instead of pushing the page open.
When to use
Section titled “When to use”Every table in a post gets it. Use a table for data the reader compares across rows; a list of steps or options is a list.
In a post
Section titled “In a post”Write an ordinary Markdown table. The site passes the system’s components to its posts, and they put every table inside a TableScroll with wrap on: a post’s tables mostly hold sentences, which read better wrapped. Each column keeps at least 8rem, and a table that still cannot fit scrolls.
| Field | Type || --- | --- || title | string |Anatomy
Section titled “Anatomy”A rounded frame with a hairline, the header row on the card fill in uppercase micro-labels, and rows divided by a soft hairline. The first column is in ink, as the row’s name.
Variants
Section titled “Variants”| Prop | Values |
|---|---|
caption |
A line under the table, also the scrolling region’s name |
wrap |
Lets cells wrap, down to 8rem a column; a table that cannot fit then scrolls. Off by default: a scrolled column reads better than a wrapped one |
stickyHeader |
Pins the header row while the body scrolls |
tone |
cream (default) or dark |
Accessibility
Section titled “Accessibility”The scrolling region takes keyboard focus, so it can be scrolled with the arrow keys, and is a named region: the caption, or “Table” without one.
TableScroll.astro, and MarkdownTable.astro, which stands in for a post’s tables. It keeps the handoff’s props.
Related
Section titled “Related”CodeBlock, which also scrolls sideways instead of wrapping.
